Check the product and its unit
A commodity name alone does not identify the full contract. Read the variant, month, contract quantity and price unit. A mini contract may require a different exposure calculation from a standard contract. Treat any international oil benchmark in an article as context, not as the price of the MCX instrument selected in your order ticket.
Write the plan before placing an order
Choose a small virtual size and note what would invalidate the practice idea. Decide whether the entry requires an immediate usable quote or a limit price. Record the stop and target as planned levels rather than promised execution. If a market is closed or data is stale, note that condition instead of treating an order as filled.
Use an energy-specific journal
Tag each attempt with the selected contract month, session, order type, planned currency loss and exit reason. If you are studying a news event, record the event source and timestamp instead of reconstructing the story after the outcome. This page does not publish a schedule of releases or a directional Crude Oil recommendation.
Compare planned and realised execution
The distance between a planned level and a simulated fill can teach you to inspect order status. In real markets, gaps, liquidity and costs can produce different results. A stop is a risk-management instruction, not a guarantee of a particular real fill price. Paper practice cannot eliminate those differences.
Review the official contract information
Consult MCX for current Crude Oil specifications and the terminal for available instruments. Session and expiry details can change. Before switching from Gold, NIFTY or another contract, recalculate the exposure and check the selected exchange segment. Carry the checklist across markets, not the previous quantity.
CLEAR ANSWERS
Questions & answers
Can I practise Crude Oil without depositing capital?
Paper trading uses virtual funds. No real commodity position is opened through a paper order.
Are Crude Oil and Crude Oil Mini the same size?
Do not assume they are. Verify the exact variant and official contract quantity before calculating exposure.
Where do I find the available expiry?
Search the instrument inside the terminal and read the complete contract details. Consult MCX for official specifications.
