Gold contracts are not interchangeable
Gold products may have different contract quantities and quotation details. A similarly named smaller contract should not inherit the quantity assumptions of a larger one. Read the contract information before calculating exposure. This guide intentionally does not hard-code a lot size that could become outdated or refer to the wrong variant.
A contract-first practice checklist
Write down the exact symbol and month, instrument type, quoted price unit, units per lot and number of lots. Only then set an entry and exit plan. If a quote is unavailable, choose another available educational exercise or return later. Selecting an instrument is not evidence that a usable market quote is currently present.
Separate Gold learning from a price forecast
You can learn order mechanics without predicting where Gold should go. Compare how a limit order waits with how a market order uses an available quote. Record the planned stop distance and what actually happened in the simulation. The question is whether you understood the contract and followed the plan, not whether a post correctly called a future price.
Review exposure before comparing results
A smaller premium or point movement may create a larger currency change when contract units differ. Compare planned virtual loss and actual position size across attempts. Keep options and futures in separate journal categories. Do not compare Gold practice with an index option solely by the number of points gained.
