MCX Control

COMMODITY PRACTICE

MCX paper trading, with a plan for every practice trade.

MCX paper trading means simulating trades in commodity contracts with virtual funds. MCX Control supports selected MCX futures and options from its instrument catalogue, including products such as Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Natural Gas when available. Virtual orders do not create physical delivery or real exchange positions.

Commodity prices and contract exposure are different

A displayed price is only one part of a commodity contract. The contract quantity, quotation unit and number of lots determine the exposure. A mini contract and its larger counterpart can have similar price movement but very different position values. Read the contract details rather than reusing the quantity from another product.

How to start an MCX practice session

Open the terminal and search by commodity name. Select the precise futures expiry or option strike and expiry shown in the catalogue. Inspect the chart and quote status, then choose an order type and a small virtual quantity. Add an exit plan and review the resulting position. If data is unavailable or stale, wait rather than assuming an unfilled order has executed.

Separate metals from energy in your journal

Use separate journal tags for Gold, Silver, Crude Oil and Natural Gas. Record the session, contract month, planned risk and exit reason. Comparing a Gold practice trade with a Crude Oil trade without recording those differences can hide why outcomes varied. Focus on whether your process remained consistent, not which commodity produced the largest virtual profit.

Sessions, expiry and settlement

MCX contracts do not necessarily follow an equity-market session. Session timing, expiry and exchange specifications may change, and product-specific details matter. Use the terminal’s current contract information and verify specifications with MCX. This simulator does not teach physical delivery procedures through a paper position; do not carry assumptions from simulation into real expiry or settlement.

A useful learning comparison

Compare a market order with a limit order on a fictional small position, then inspect the fill and order history. Record the quote conditions and whether the order waited. Repeat with an exit plan. This helps separate order mechanics from a price forecast. No educational example on this page is a commodity buy or sell recommendation.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Questions & answers

Can I paper trade Gold and Crude Oil?

You can practise supported Gold and Crude Oil contracts when they are present in the terminal catalogue and usable data is available.

Is commodity paper trading the same as real MCX trading?

No. Orders and funds are simulated. Real contracts have actual financial, margin and settlement obligations that a simulator cannot reproduce completely.

Are all MCX contracts available?

No. MCX Control uses a selected product catalogue. Search inside the terminal to confirm the current contract, expiry and instrument type.
